The Zimmer Golden Spirit is an American neoclassical passenger car produced between 1980 and 1989, the flagship of Zimmer Motor Cars, known for its retro-style models. Most Golden Spirits of those years were 2-door, 4-seat hardtops, however, there were custom convertibles, 4-door sedans and even limousines. The creation recipe looked like this: protruding fenders, a long hood with a vertical radiator grille, chrome-plated side pipes, round headlights and other style elements of the 30s of the 20th century were attached to the extended platform of the rear-wheel drive Mercury Cougar coupe (since 1979, the Ford Mustang was used). Zimmer manufactured all fiberglass body panels in-house. The interior was re-trimmed with leather, Recaro seats and a Nardi steering wheel, but the original Mustang instrument panel was left untouched. Installed Windsor V8 engines with a volume of 4183 cm3 (115 hp) or 4942 cm3 (131 hp) complete with an automatic transmission, new steering and brake components. Decorated with a gilded figurine of an eagle, the Zimmer Golden Spirit looked quite impressive, especially against the backdrop of the monotonous American auto industry of the 80s. In total, more than 1,500 units of such machines were produced between 1978 and 1988. In 1997, after the company came under the management of the Art Zimmer Neo-Classic Motor Car Company, small-scale assembly of the revived Golden Spirit in coupe and convertible bodies on the Ford Mustang platform resumed. Soon a 4-door modification appeared on the Lincoln Town Car chassis. When creating the Golden Spirit, the chassis and interior were practically untouched, so the car can be serviced at Ford dealers.
