جاغوار 420 - الكتالوج والمواصفات الفنية
The Jaguar 420 is a mid-size 4-door sports saloon produced in 1966–68. It was first shown at the 1966 London Motor Show, along with its "twin" the Daimler Sovereign. Based on the Jaguar S-Type, the car received a different front end design and minor interior changes. Its length was shorter than that of the "original" (4762 mm), but the wheelbase of both models was the same (2727 mm). Power steering was an option. The 4.2-liter engine was fed by two carburetors and developed 245 horsepower at 5,500 rpm. The automatic transmission was replaced with a more powerful Model 8. A pre-engagement starter, a dual-line hydraulic brake system instead of a single-line system, and a more efficient cross-flow radiator were installed. Acceleration from 0 to 60 mph took less than 10 seconds, and top speed was over 125 mph (201 km/h). For a then-reasonable base price of $5,900, the Jaguar 420 offered excellent performance, outstanding braking, superb handling, a luxurious interior—all while remaining compact enough to maneuver in traffic. However, the 420 cost around £200 more than the S-Type, so it wasn't particularly popular with buyers.
