There are many signs of a malfunctioning starter. The diagnostics includes a visual inspection of the starter, voltage measurement, verification of the engagement with the engine shaft and the state of the belt tension, additional check of the battery, and, if it is impossible to establish the cause of the breakdown, the unit is disassembled.
