The cylinder block may require repairs in the presence of the following signs: appearance of an emulsion in the motor case, oil spots in the expansion tank, blue or white exhaust smoke, or a drop in the oil level. Repair of the cylinder block consists in cleaning the surface of the cylinder block, checking the tightness of the jacket, cylinders, flushing and cleaning the oil channels of the crankshaft. Moreover, the repair includes cylinder boring - processing of the inner surface to give the cylinder surfaces an accurate cylindrical shape, honing - careful turning of the inner surfaces of the cylinders, and lining - the process of installing repair liners in the cylinder blocks.
