Audi 80 - catalog and technical specifications
The Audi 80 is a passenger car produced in sedan, coupe and estate bodies from 1972 to 1995. The model is close in size to the modern Audi A1 and Audi A3, but back then it was considered a middle-size car. The appearance of the Audi 80 series was designed by a German car designer Claus Luthe, while the Italian studio Bertone only slightly retouched the master's plan. The result is a memorable and perfectly balanced image. The Audi 80 was named the best European car of 1973 by the jury of the prestigious Car of the Year competition. A total of 1,101,766 cars were sold in six years, which made it a real best-seller of its era. Moreover, the 80th model served as a prototype for the Volkswagen Passat. The first generation of the car is recognized as the safest car of its time. And the third generation received a fully galvanized body with a ten-year rust-through warranty.
