Chrysler Imperial - catalog and technical specifications
Introduced in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial immediately became Chrysler’s top-end car. It was initially produced from 1926 to 1954, and then from 1990 to 1993. The adjective "imperial", according to Webster's dictionary, means sovereign, supreme, great size or superiority. It is quite obvious that this word is applied to the most expensive Chrysler models. The Imperial model was produced as a 2-seater and 4-seater roadster, 4-seater coupe, 5-seater sedan and phaeton, as well as a 7-seater limousine. The limousine had a glass partition between the front and rear passenger compartments. The car was equipped with more powerful engines, and even managed to set a transcontinental speed record in the first year of production, having traveled more than 10,460 km in a week. The early 1990s saw a revival of the Imperial as a high-class sedan in Chrysler's model range.
