Prowler

Chrysler Prowler generations

The Chrysler Prowler owes its birth to Chrysler President Bob Lutz, who chose it out of a huge number of ideas, a retro car inspired by a “Hot Rod”. So in 1997, the company released its unusual Prowler retro roadster. From 1997 to 2001, the Prowler was produced as Plymouth Prowler, and from 2001 to 2002 as Chrysler Prowler. The hand-built car received an unusual purple two-layer paint covering with a stunning depth effect. The manufacturer claimed it was "a meter deep". A special purple primer was developed especially for this paint. Therefore, the coating color remained the same even in the presence of scratches and chips. A total of 11,700 units were produced over four and a half years of production. And this is the rare case in automotive history when emotions and feelings prevailed over the dry cost figures and marketers' calculations. None of the produced Prowler models brought Chrysler a cent of income, but made thousands of people happy.
