Datsun 280Z - catalog and technical specifications

The Datsun 280Z is a sports 2-door, 2-seater coupe produced by Nissan Motor from 1969 to 1979. In Japan the car was sold as the Fairlady Z, in other markets as the Nissan S30 or Datsun 260Z, starting in 1975 as the Datsun 280Z. The sports car has a stylish appearance: a long hood, a short rear overhang and a sloping roofline - proportions that are rarely seen in the stream of modern cars. The interior is of very high quality and full of premium options for its time. The character of the car changed along with the driving style: from sedate to truly aggressive. The sports coupe was equipped with independent MacPherson struts at the front and Chapman struts at the rear, front disc brakes and rear drum brakes. A 2.8-liter inline-six is installed under the hood, and the drive is exclusively rear-wheel drive. On the US market, the engine produced 149 horsepower, later the output increased to 173 horsepower and 221 Nm. Both a 4- or 5-speed manual transmission and a 3-speed automatic were offered. With the change of generations, the carburetor gave way to the L-Jetronic injection system from Bosch. Today the Datsun 280Z is a wonderful rare car that will delight its owner for many years. According to reviews, Datsun is not at all capricious, does not break down and does not show character.
