Ford GT – overview
The Ford GT, a mid-engined sports car produced since 2004, received a new generation in 2016. It was initially developed as a concept car for the 100th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company. The Living Legends design studio took inspiration from the design of the classic Ford GT40 race car produced in the 1960s. The new car was very similar to the old one, albeit a bit larger, and it was even confused with its predecessor. Three prototypes of the car were shown in 2003, and production started in autumn 2004. The 2-seater coupe was equipped with a 5.4-liter supercharged engine that developed 550 hp, which allowed accelerating to 330 km/h. Introduced in 2015, the new generation received a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged engine with a capacity of 647 hp and a 7-speed robotic gearbox. The new GT has one of the best weight-to-power ratios on the road, thanks to the use of carbon fiber.
