The Honda Accord (USA) is an extremely significant model for the Japanese brand. It was the first Japanese car to be manufactured in the US and became the best-selling Japanese model in North America since its inception, holding this title for 15 years until 1996. The car for the US market debuted in its first generation, which emerged 45 years ago. American sedans and hatchbacks began to differ from their Japanese and European counterparts starting with the third generation. In 1991 and 2001, the Accord topped US sales rankings in its class among all manufacturers. Moreover, this model became the world's first car equipped with a standard navigation system called the Electro Gyrocator. Today, the Honda Accord is sold in Japan and America, having left Europe back in 2003.
