Lancia Hyena – overview
The Lancia Hyena is a 2-door coupe based on the Delta HF Integrale Evolution, produced in a limited edition of 24 units by the Italian studio Zagato. The idea came from Dutch restorer and classic car collector Paul W. J. Koot. Marco Pedracini, Zagato, designed the prototype shown at the 1992 Brussels Motor Show. The car’s silhouette resembled a hyena, after which it was named. Koot immediately received an order for 13 cars, but bureaucratic barriers affected the process. The manufacturer had to buy a Delta Integrale HF, bring it to the Netherlands, disassemble it and send the chassis to Milan to build a new body and carry out the final assembly, which inevitably led to an increase in the cost of production: each Hyena cost $ 100,000. The car was produced from 1992 to 1995. It is currently appreciated by collectors.
