Maserati Barchetta Stradale - catalog and technical specifications

The Maserati Barchetta Stradale is a rare car produced by Maserati from 1991 to 1994. The term "Barchetta" in Italian means "small boat" and describes a light open-top sports car without the usual windshield. In the 1950s, such cars were produced exclusively by private orders. In the 90s, they were intended for owners who wanted to participate in races organized by Maserati. Originally designed for street racing, the Barchetta Stradale could also be used on public roads. The car had no windshield or hood, so passengers had to wear helmets and avoid driving in the rain. The body was very low, only 36 inches off the ground. A steel-base chassis held the engine and suspension in the middle through tubular steel and alloy subframes. The outer skin consisted of 8 composite materials, which reduced the car weight to 905 kg.
