Mazda Laputa – overview
The Mazda Laputa is Mazda's next kei car, a subcompact 5-door hatchback produced from 1999 to 2006 according to an agreement with Suzuki, which is why it had an analogue, the Suzuki Kei. The cars only had different nameplates. In 2000, the Laputa received a signature pentagonal radiator grille. The car was sold in Japan and was only right-hand drive. Despite its tiny size (a little less than 3.4 m long), there were front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. One of the most obvious advantages was economical fuel consumption. Thus, the car consumed only 3.8-4.1 liters of gasoline on the highway.
