Mercedes Simplex – overview
The Mercedes Simplex is a passenger car produced by Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (Germany) in 1902-1909, the second car to be named "Mercedes". Designed by engineer Wilhelm Maybach, the Simplex replaced the 35 PS. The new car featured a simpler design and better comfort. Plus, the model owed its name to the simplicity of operation. As a result, the Mercedes Simplex not only became simple and convenient, but also won many racing awards. In 1903, Wilhelm Maybach personally met German Emperor Wilhelm II at the Berlin Automobile Exhibition, who expressed his admiration for the car with these words: “A truly beautiful car you have here.
