The Mercury Sable is a car named after a Russian fur animal. It was produced from 1985 to 2009. The car had an analogue, Ford Taurus. The Mercury Sable marked the transition of mid-sized Mercury models to front-wheel drive. From 1986 to 2005, the Sable was offered as a 4-door mid-size sedan or 5-door estate, with over 2 million produced. In 2008, the car turned into a full-size sedan.
