Sapporo

Mitsubishi Sapporo generations

The Mitsubishi Sapporo is a 2-door, 4-seater, rear-wheel drive coupe produced by Mitsubishi from 1976 to 1984. It was an export copy of the Galant Lambda model, created for sale in Europe and South America. The name comes from the Japanese city of Sapporo, which hosted the 1972 Winter Olympics. The car was also sold in the US, Australia and the UK under different brands. In Japan, the coupe was positioned as a luxury car for personal use, at that time a very popular category of cars. The Sapporo was equipped with engines with a volume ranging from 1.6 to 2.3 liters, including powerful turbocharged options, manual or automatic transmissions. The car received a luxurious interior and all the most modern options of those years. In 1987, Mitsubishi again used the Sapporo name for the Galant, but it was a completely different car, a front-wheel drive 4-door sedan.
