Peugeot 403 – overview
The Peugeot 403 is a passenger car produced by Peugeot from 1955 to 1966. It was offered as a 4-door sedan, 5-door estate, 2-door convertible, 2-door pickup, and even as a 3-door van. The car had a three-box design with some unique features: wide rear doors that opened 90 degrees and rear door windows that could be lowered all the way. The model was equipped with a 65 hp engine that was equipped with a thermostatically controlled fan, which turned off when the engine temperature dropped to 75°C and turned on again when the temperature rose to 84°C. Such an engine was more fuel-efficient than the engines of competitive models. The Peugeot 403 was very popular: the total sales for 11 years amounted to more than 1 million units.
