Toyota Altezza – overview
The Toyota Altezza is a rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan produced for the domestic Japanese market from 1998 to 2005. The car had a sports modification with a 210-horsepower engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, while another version was equipped with a 6-cylinder in-line engine with 160 hp and 4-speed automatic transmission. A manual transmission was added in 2001. At the same time, the restyled model range acquired the Altezza Gita hatchback, equipped with a 2 or 3-liter 6-cylinder engine. Unlike the sedan, this car also received all-wheel drive with the i-Four system. In Europe, both cars were sold as the Lexus IS.
