The Toyota Starlet is a 3 or 5-door hatchback for the domestic Japanese market. In 1973, the manufacturer introduced the subcompact model with rear-wheel drive and 1.0 or 1.2-liter engines. The model had five generations and was produced until 1999. The latest generation received the following power units: a 1.3-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 82-85 hp and a 1.5-liter diesel engine with a capacity of 55 hp. There were front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive versions with automatic or manual transmissions.
