Diesel particulate filter replacement
The diesel particulate filter must be replaced when it is “clogged”. The following signs indicate that the particulate filter is defective: unstable engine idling, a drop in engine power while driving, increased fuel consumption, oil level increase and malfunction signals coming from an on-board computer. The modern cars have a filter cleaning function that does not prevent the filter from clogging after a certain mileage, in which case, such a filter can be washed using special equipment. If washing does not help, the filter is replaced with a new one. Depending on the model, the filter is changed in different ways, but, as a rule, it is required to remove the engine casing, the microfilter housing, the unit protection panel, and the filter mounts. The installation of the filter is carried out in the reverse order.
