It is required to repair the steering gear assembly in the presence of the following signs: poor steering response, sudden jerking motions when driving, steering wheel jamming, creaking, grinding and other unusual sounds when turning the steering wheel. If repair is necessary, remove and wash the gear assembly, evaluate the condition of the bearings and gearing, replace worn or damaged O-rings and oil seals, evaluate the condition of the steering gear shafts, and if there are traces of corrosion and surface wear, it is required to restore and replace the surfaces. After repair, the gear assembly is assembled and installed on the vehicle.
