Mercury Comet is a passenger car produced from 1960 to 1977 by the brand of the same name, part of the Ford Motor Corporation. Mercury Comet took part in various competitions, including the famous drag races, where it showed impressive results. Its racing achievements helped cement the Comet's reputation as a reliable and capable car that offered both practicality and driving pleasure. In 1966-1967, the car switched to the mid-range Ford Fairlan platform, grew in size and received a “Dual-Action” system with a folding door mechanism, which many major US automakers would later borrow. The Mercury Comet ended production in 1977, but it remains one of the iconic vehicles of its time, symbolizing innovation, powerful performance and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
