Cadillac DeVille generations

The Cadillac DeVille is a full-size passenger car produced in sedan, coupe and convertible bodies from 1949-2005. This is probably the most popular Cadillac in the world, the share of sales of which in some years exceeded 70% of the total output. The model is truly remarkable. For example, it was the first Cadillac to develop 160 hp. The car was equipped with Cadillac's first overhead valve engine with a volume of 5.4 liters. The DeVille was built on the basis of a convertible, to which a non-removable metal roof was attached. Thus a new body type appeared, called a hardtop, which became very popular in the 1950-1960s. They say that the idea was oferred by one of the developers, who was tired of his wife complaining about her messy hair after riding in a convertible and who had to constantly raise the roof. The sedan was no different from the coupe, except for the presence of 4 doors, but became much more popular. In 1959, the manufacturer introduced the famous Cadillac DeVille with huge rear fenders, which are currently rightfully considered the pinnacle of fin style in car design. After 1977, the car became 250 kg lighter and 25 cm shorter. Moreover, those cars were primarily distinguished by the absence of central pillars, which were replaced with framed doors.
