Ford GT40 - catalog and technical specifications

The Ford GT40 is a sports car, 4-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans from 1966 to 1969. It was specifically designed to win long-distance races against the Ferrari cars that won Le Mans six times in a row from 1960 to 1965. The famous British entrepreneur Eric Broadley, the owner and lead designer of Lola Cars, was involved in the development of the sports car. The new sports car was called GT, that is, Gran Turismo, and featured the index 40, which meant a total height of 40 inches (1.02 m with a windshield), in accordance with the rules of racing. The American car featured Ford V8 engines, which had a larger volume (4.7 liters and 7 liters), compared to Ferrari V12 engines, which totaled only 3 or 4 liters.
