A sad event took place in Australia in 2017: the automaker Holden set up in 1856 shut down its operations! Despite the fact that the Holden brand is not widely known in the world, it has a very long and interesting history. Holden started out by making horse saddles and then switched over to assembling carriages and then bodies for American cars and once it joined General Motors it started manufacturing small sedans, eccentric Utes and even wild cup monsters. The earliest Holden models were so popular that they completely pushed Ford out of the Australian market for as long as 20 years.
