Manufactured by the British electric vehicle producer London EV Company (LEVC), a subsidiary of Chinese automotive giant Geely, the VN5 has been in production since November 2020. The van is built on the platform of the popular London taxi, the LEVC TX, and its name is derived from the abbreviation of "van" and the cargo capacity in cubic meters.
