Being unable to finally part with sports cars, the retired French race car driver Guy Ligier decided to found his own car company Ligier in 1969. The company shortly unveiled to the public its first sports coupe. And just a year later, Ligier released a new model featuring a Maserati engine. A little later, Ligier switched over to the manufacturing of F1 race cars and Optima microcars.
