Mazda MX-5 – overview
The Mazda MX-5 is a compact 2-door, 2-seater, rear-wheel drive roadster produced by Mazda (Japan) since 1989. The car inherited the main features of classic British sports cars: light weight, engine inside the wheelbase, rear-wheel drive, and simple design. The roadster entered the Guinness World Records as the best-selling two-seater sports car, Playboy's Car Most Fun to Drive, Best Imported Convertible in Germany and World's Most Obedient Car in the UK. The new Mazda MX-5 was inspired by the concept of “oneness between horse and rider” or "Jinba ittai". The roadster received the Euro NCAP award as the best car in its class.
