Xterra

Nissan Xterra generations

The Nissan Xterra is a body-on-frame SUV designed specifically for the United States. The first generation was compact, whereas the second grew to mid-size. The vehicle was built in 1999. It was based on the Nissan F-Alpha platform, shared with the Frontier pickup. The name "Xterra" comes from the XTERRA triathlon competition, held under the auspices of Nissan from 1998 to 2006. The first generation was driven by a 3.3-liter engine, whereas the second received a 4-liter engine. The vehicle had rear and all-wheel drive versions. After the production ended, the Xterra was produced under license as Nissan Roniz in Iran and as Nissan Paladin in China since 2003.
