Renault 5 – overview
In its first incarnation, Renault 5 was a supermini car that was produced from 1972 to 2002 as a 3- or 5-door hatchback. At one time, the small, nondescript car became the most popular in France with more than 5 million units sold. Car owners appreciated its capacity with small dimensions and comfort, previously unavailable for cars of this class, as well as a tenacious engine and excellent handling. In the 21st century, Renault 5 received a rebirth - now it is an all-electric hatchback, one of the most affordable electric cars on the European market. The new Renault 5 is based on the latest platform with a fully independent suspension, which was specially developed for small and relatively budget electric vehicles. The hatchback will be offered with three electric motors and two batteries to choose from. The longest-range version will travel 400 km. Production will be launched in 2024.
