Subaru Rex - catalog and technical specifications
The Subaru Rex is a small 3 or 5-door hatchback produced from 1972 to 1992. Subaru's marketing department must have been in a good mood when they came up with the name of this car: the word "Rex" means "king". The "King" belonged to the kei class, traditional for Japan. Therefore the first generation model was equipped with 356 cc engines, whereas the third generation offered 758 cc engines, however, such powerful units were only offered for export. The first generation had a rear-engine layout and rear-wheel drive, whereas all-wheel drive versions appeared starting from the second generation.
