Subaru. Safety and driving pleasure
Subaru is a legendary brand of dynamic, safe, and reliable cars. Subaru is a high quality of assembling. The reliability of Subaru cars is acknowledged by the biggest of trustworthy world rankings of the world. Subaru can be confidently attributed to the global carmakers. It has foreign affiliates in Europe, Japan, and North America. Since the start of production in 1958, the total number of all the cars released in Japan has reached 20M. Made in Japan… These words are not just a production location, but a sign of the highest quality! Only this way, proudly, we can discuss Subaru.
The brand is owned by Subaru Corporation Company, one of the biggest Japanese corporations which has not only an automotive but also a space subdivision. The philosophy of Subaru is safety and driving pleasure. Permanent 4WD and horizontal boxer engine reducing the center of gravity of the car provides stable traction on any surfaces and under different motion conditions making Subaru very stable at high speeds and giving it great steering performance. The results of the crash-tests show that Subaru cars lead the world’s trustworthy ratings of safety.

Brought together
The first car released under the Subaru brand according to the word standards appeared not so long ago – in 1954. Subaru 1500 immediately showed excellent driving performance and stable driveability. And it was made based on drafts and patents of the Renault corporation which Kenji Kita, the founder and president of the Fuji Heavy Industries company (it is the early name of Subaru corporation), acquired from the French. Subaru 1500 engine was copied from another French car – Peugeot 202 and its appearance is taken from Peugeot 403. That’s how the first Japanese Subaru with French spirit came about :)
But the brand name is truly Japanese! It was invented by Kenji Kita himself. ‘Subaru’ is the Japanese name of the Pleiades star cluster which is clearly visible in the sky with the naked eye. It comes from the verb ‘Subaru’ – ‘to be brought together’.
FHI corporation is the successor of the Nakajima Aircraft Company. It was originally established as Aviation Research Laboratory back in 1917, produced jet planes, chainsaws, ‘Rabbit’ scooters, and diesel buses for a while. That is why Subaru has powerful engine-related developments.
The most popular models
It was only 4 years after the release of the first car when the company launched a new one on the market – Subaru 360 or, like it was gently called in Japan, ‘Ladybug’. It had been produced for 11 years, had a huge popularity in Japan, and gave a start to universal love and recognition of the Subaru mark.
And then comes Subaru 1000, the corporation’s first car using a front-wheel-drive system along with a horizontally opposed engine. It was Subaru’s development and a real technological breakthrough! This way, Subaru established its own concept of car production.
Subaru 1000 is the first car of the company that uses both the front drive system and A-Line engine. It’s the in-house development of the Subaru company making a real technological leap!
One of the world’s first 4WD passenger cars is also the brainchild of Subaru with the name “LEONE”. Up to this point, all-wheel-drive enthusiasts were limited to choosing only a large SUV. Subaru broke this stereotype by introducing a mass-produced 4WD model of a conventional passenger car. As you can imagine, it immediately became very popular! Built on its basis Subaru Brat became incredibly popular in The North America where it’s profitability and ability to ‘go anywhere’ fully satisfied requests of the youth who loved to spend their free time in the country.
And Subaru Justy was the world’s first car with the automatic transmission – electronically controlled variator which allows changing the car speed automatically, selecting the optimal gear.
Subaru Legacy became the first truly famous Subaru car because of its 4WD and increased cross-country ability. More than 3.6 M Subaru Legacy cars were produced in total. Legacy, just like other cars of this brand, won many international awards.
After the release of Subaru Impreza, which has become probably the most popular model, the corporation woke up world-famous :) This car was more compact than the previous Legacy but with truly sporty features! Amazing driving sensations were enhanced by a turbocharged engine. Well, and probably the most popular of the Impreza series is Impreza WRX STI.
We also cannot ignore such crossover as Subaru Forester which combines strict features of a passenger and a sports automobile (SUV – sport utility vehicle). Forester is a car of a new style providing superior rough-road handling and high driving position required of SUVs. By the way, another model based on the Subaru Legacy is Subaru Tribeca, a mid-size crossover.
One of the latest models to note is Subaru Levorg, which replaced Legacy Touring Wagon. It combines all the best things of Impreza and Legacy, even its name is formed from a combination of 3 words: LEgacy, reVOlution, touRinG.
Subaru XV has ‘5 stars’ in the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP), and twice awarded for the best safety parameters in the Small Family Car class.
Well, the true combination of functionality, style, and comfort is SUBARU XV – a compact crossover with the original appearance and the highest level of safety. Subaru XV got the highest ‘five stars’ rating in the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) and was awarded twice for the best safety performance in the Small Family Car class.
Innovation, individuality, courage – these are three pillars that Subaru rests on. Subaru is committed to making high-quality cars that offer a combination of drivability, ambiance, and safety, thus improving the impression of those who enjoy driving.
