Trabant P 601 - catalog and technical specifications
The Trabant P 601 was produced by VEB Sachsenring from 1963 to 1990. The most popular car of the GDR sold over 2.8 million units. The car was cheap, reliable, easy to repair and maintain. At the time of its release, the model was considered quite modern, although it had a weak engine producing less than 30 hp. However, the happy inhabitants of the GDR did not have much choice in those days, so the car lived safely until the fall of the Berlin Wall.
