The American automaker Vector founded in 1971 initially focused on racing cars and supercars. Vector supercars were a true American response to European road super-exoticism like Lamborghini and Ferrari featuring impressive performance and centrally placed engines. The design of Vector cars still looks quite modern and in the 70s it made an impression of an alien from space. The founder of the company, Gerald Alden "Jerry" Wiegert, answered the following to the question of how he came up with the idea of creating Vector: “I wanted to be a fighter pilot but my eyesight wasn’t good enough so I decided to make a car that would be exactly the same as a fighter.”
