XPeng was registered in April 2015. It was founded by people from the media business and public funds. This is probably why the company is very ambitious, even the name "Xiaopeng" (the full name of the company) means "small but powerful". Moreover, it is not as small anymore, since as many as 3 plants are being built (although production began using foreign facilities), and investors allocated 100 million dollars for the development and launch of the first model. Today, XPeng has several R&D centers not only in China, but also in Europe and the USA. The company's shares are present on the New York Stock Exchange (a majority stake is held by Lei Jun, billionaire and founder of Chinese tech giant Xiaomi). Almost all of the leading employees of the "mighty" Chinese company came from BMW, Lamborghini and Ford.
