Starter diagnostics
There are many signs of a malfunctioning starter. For example, when you turn the key or press the button to the start position, nothing happens (or the engine starts after several attempts) or you hear a dull click and the control lights go out. Plus, such signs as a buzzing and rotation of the starter at start without starting the engine and scratching noise, after which the engine may start, may indicate a malfunction of the starter. Any signs of a malfunctioning starter should be diagnosed. The diagnostics includes a visual inspection of the starter, voltage measurement, verification of the engagement with the engine shaft and the state of the belt tension, additional check of the battery, and, if it is impossible to establish the cause of the breakdown, the unit is disassembled.
