Sedan Genesis G90. In anticipation of the second generation
The technical characteristics of the Genesis G90 2nd generation have been announced. The car is equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (380 hp and 530 Nm) engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
The Genesis G90 large luxury sedan is a powerful, spacious and luxurious car that marks the stylish start of Hyundai’s new luxury brand. Targeted at elite competition with premium brands, it is practically in no way inferior to such giants as, for example, the Mercedes S-Class and Audi A8. It premiered in 2016, and it was restyled for the first time in 2018. The first generation G90 captivated car enthusiasts with its impeccable design, created in compliance with the “Athletic Elegance” concept so appreciated by wealthy people. Quite often you can hear how the G90 is called the “Korean Bentley”. The new Genesis G90 looks expensive, and its passengers are automatically elevated to the rank of stars.
The interior is impressive. It is well-assembled and has excellent noise insulation. The engines are powerful, reliable and quiet. The new Genesis G90 is fast, stable, perfectly adapted for long journeys and capable of overcoming any road obstacles without affecting your driving experience. The base engine is a 3.3-liter turbocharged V-6 unit with 365 hp. It is possible to install a 5-liter V-8 engine with an output of 420 hp. Both engines are paired with a very responsive 8-speed automatic transmission. The car is offered with either rear or all-wheel drive systems. The suspension is tuned for a soft ride, but with sharp and easy handling.

And now, at the end of 2021, Hyundai has unveiled the exterior design of the new (second) generation G90 and claims that this is ‘the most elegant interpretation of the Athletic Elegance philosophy’. The most elegant elegance. The premiere of the second generation Genesis G90 will take place in South Korea in mid-December. We are looking forward to the new flagship of the Korean brand, but for now we would like to share what we know with you.
What do we know about the second generation?
The exterior design of the brand’s flagship of the second generation has changed, following the requirements of the corporate style of the Korean brand, which is distinguished by the two-tiered optics and side repeat flashers on the front fenders. We can see a new Crest Grille and twin line optics that refer to the design of the Genesis brand emblem. Of special note are the rear lights, also made in the form of double lines and stretched across the entire width of the read end. The front and rear bumpers featuring chrome inserts look impressive. The low beams are made in accordance with the MLA (Micro Lens Array) technology, and the sedan will also have retractable door handles, like the new Mercedes S-Class.
There will also be a longer version of the G90, which differs from the standard sedan by the presence of chrome in the decor. Its wheelbase has become 190 mm longer, the width of the doorway and additional space for rear row passengers have increased. The car is also distinguished by exclusively designed 20-inch rims.
The 2022 Genesis G90 sedan will receive V6 engines, as the company has abandoned 8-cylinder engines, following the general global trends. Technical characteristics will be known later during the world premiere of the model.
