Rise of the luxurious Dawn
The Rolls-Royce Dawn Cabriolet is a modification of the Wraith coupe that ‘suffers’ from a superiority complex. The coupe still manages to hide the shameless wealth of its interior, but the Dawn puts on display its mesmerizing design, capable of impressing even very wealthy people who are not easy to impress.
It is difficult to understand why this brilliant cabriolet was named Dawn. It should rather be called Fall, as this word is better associated with the fall and decline of human civilization, consumed by sin, than with the dawn of anything. Pure decadence… This model would be perfect for someone like Papa Midnight from Hellblazer and Constantine (2005), who owns a nightclub for the Heaven and Hell representatives’ meetings. Because who else could afford a cabriolet for 300 thousand dollars, and most importantly, why?
Genealogy
In terms of genealogical mythology, the RR Dawn is the successor to the extremely rare Silver Dawn that was seen in some exclusive resorts in the 1950s. The 2016 Dawn also replaces the departed Phantom Drophead Coupe. The model is based on the Wraith, and the latter is based on the legendary Ghost. This model was completely changed in 2021, so the Wraith and then Dawn are the next. A restyled version and maybe a full-fledged second generation can be expected in 2022 or 2023. So, we better start earning 300 thousand dollars as quickly as possible. There is no other way.
Exterior
The Dawn looks uncompromisingly pompous, expensive, elegant and sophisticated. Oh no, this is a straight, heavy, sparkling piece of metal, reminiscent of a bar of gold that, for some reason, was placed on wheels and painted in some flashy mafia color. For example, one of the basic colors is soft blue.
The Dawn looks uncompromisingly pompous, expensive, elegant and sophisticated.
With its rare radiator grille, Spirit of Ecstasy figurine and very peculiar headlights, the car looks at you as if asking: ‘Are you cool enough to look at me, friend? And is it your district, considering that your watch is worth only 5 thousand dollars?’
Cabriolet doors are not quite usual for modern cars, Rolls-Royce calls them neutral ‘coach doors’, but commoners and other miserables know it under a less aristocratic name - ‘suicide door’. According to Dave Brownell (Hemmings Motor News), in the old days ‘gangster cars used to feature such doors to make it easier to push the enemies of the mafia out of them on the go’. It is clear now why the Dawn has such doors?
Interior
Of special note are a powerful engine and customizable suspension. RR makes cars for people who have already driven many kilometers without any assistance and now sit exclusively in the back seat, mercifully commanding the hired driver to steer in one direction or another. But the Dawn is one of the rare Rolls-Royces designed for those who prefer driving independently.
The power system and suspension are initially aimed at providing calm and comfortable driving for those who have a high status. But if desired, the suspension can be reconfigured for a sporty and dynamic ride. In this case, the cabriolet is able to accelerate up to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and it can no longer reach the maximum 250 km/h, as the speed is limited.
