The high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) may be defective in the presence of the following symptoms: engine starting problems, reduced engine power, increased oil consumption, smoky exhaust, overheating and engine noises. Before dismantling the HPFP, clean it and the joints, remove and wash the pump, drain the remaining fuel. The repair procedure involves disassembling the fuel supply control drive, checking the state of the interacting elements, changing the O-rings, replace or repair other HPFP elements. After repair, fill the HPFP with fuel and check its operability.
