The particulate filter needs to be removed in the event of its malfunction, when it ceases to perform its functions. The particulate filter does not require repair, as the filter has a regeneration function. But in some cases, the particulate filter is removed. This is done by cutting the filter out of the exhaust system and re-tuning the corresponding engine ECU software.
