Alfa Romeo GTA Coupe generations

The Alfa Romeo GTA is a coupe manufactured by Alfa Romeo from 1965 to 1975. The abbreviation "GTA" means "Gran Turismo Alleggerita", a lightweight Gran Turismo. There were two models: the Corsa for racing competitions and the Stradale for ordinary roads. The coupe was built by Alfa's racing division, Autodelta. It looked similar to the the Guilia sedan, but more upgraded. The car used the original platform, had a lightweight aluminum body with a dry weight of only 740 kg. The racing coupe was equipped with magnesium alloy wheels and plastic side windows. The engine received a new ignition system: two candles per cylinder (double ignition, later called Twin Spark). The transmission of the racing version was different from the road version, and the gear mechanisms were lighter. The road version produced approximately 115 hp, whereas the racing version produced 170 hp. A total of 500 cars were assembled for the races, which were also available for road use. All GTA modifications have become very successful and have brought the Italian brand a huge number of race victories.
