The German automaker Borgward existed from 1929 to 1961. Borgward manufactured cars not only under its own name but also under the Hansa, Goliath and Lloyd brands. It was Borgward that brought many technical innovations to the German automotive industry such as air suspension and automatic transmission. But, unfortunately, Borgward cars could not compete with major German manufacturers. In 1961, Borgward ceased to exist due to bankruptcy.
