BYD Seal 05 (BYD Seal 05 DM-i) is a large family sedan with a fifth-generation PHEV hybrid powertrain, a new product of 2025. Belongs to the Ocean marine line. BYD Seal 05, although positioned as a completely new BYD model, is in fact an updated version of the Chaser 05 (Destroyer 05) sedan, with which it shares proportions and a glazing line, and thin LED headlights and taillights in a single unit are similar to the Seal 06 DM-i. But the sedan also has its own features: a sports bumper with a trapezoidal air intake, a solid chrome strip under the headlights, a sloping hood. Thanks to the smooth roof line, the BYD Seal 05 can easily be confused with a liftback, but this is a classic sedan with an independent trunk, classic door handles and side mirrors. Dimensions: 4.78 meters in length, the wheelbase is a decent 2.70 meters. The trunk holds 500 liters. The 5-seater cabin features 8.8-inch digital instruments and a 12.8-inch touchscreen multimedia system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, voice control and over-the-air updates. Safety is ensured by 6 airbags, adaptive cruise control, active lane departure control, and automatic braking. The BYD Seal 05 DM-i is equipped with a plug-in hybrid PHEV series-type system: the gasoline engine acts as a generator most of the time, while electric motors are responsible for movement. The system includes a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (98 hp) and an electric motor (197 hp). The total output of the system is 218 hp. The sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, and its maximum speed is 180 km/h. The 18.3 kW/h LFP battery allows for a pure electric range of 90-120 km.
