Chrysler PT Cruiser generations

The Chrysler PT Cruiser is a retro compact car produced by Chrysler since 2000 as a 5-door hatchback and since 2005 as a 2-door convertible. The letters "PT" in the name stood for the model’s platform, as well as for "Personal Transport", apparently, especially for those who doubted its purpose. But the funniest thing is that the 5-seater front-wheel drive passenger car was classified by the NHTSA system in the USA as a truck based on average fuel consumption. Being a joint creation of DaimlerChrysler, the European RT Cruiser was equipped with engines manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. The car caused a mixed reaction. Thus, it was named the Car of the Year in the United States and entered the top ten cars by Car and Driver magazine, but Top Gear named the 2005 PT Cruiser convertible one of the ten worst cars in the last 20 years.
