Chrysler TC by Maserati - catalog and technical specifications
Developed by Chrysler and Maserati, the Chrysler TC by Maserati was a front-wheel drive S-segment convertible produced from 1989 to 1991. It was designed to overcome the classic image of a blue-collar car and attract wealthier customers. The model appeared thanks to the former CEO of Chrysler, Lee Iacocca, who claimed that the TC by Maserati was "the prettiest Italian to arrive stateside since his mother immigrated". The TC platform was based on a shortened Dodge Daytona chassis, the body was designed by Maserati, and the special wheels were made in Italy by the Formula 1 supplier. And yet, the car was not popular. Critics argued that the original idea of combining a Chrysler engine with a Maserati body did not work out, and the Chrysler TC by Maserati "inherited the worst out of every partner" in the end. The sporty convertible that looked too much like the cheaper LeBaron GTC sold very poorly due to its high price, lack of exterior color choice, and unimpressive performance.
