Maserati Biturbo – overview
The Maserati Biturbo is a family of luxury Gran Turismo cars produced by Maserati (Italy) between 1981 and 1994. In response to the global fuel crisis, the Italian brand developed a relatively inexpensive front-engined, rear-wheel drive coupe that became the most popular car in the company's history in the first few years. However, sales figures declined in subsequent years as the model gained a controversial reputation for not being very high quality and reliable compared to the top quality of typical Maserati models. And yet, for 5 years of production as part of the Biturbo series, the Italians have released quite a few models. There were the following coupes: Biturbo coupe (Tipo AM331), Biturbo, 222, 2.24v, Racing, Biturbo saloon (Tipo AM332), as well as sedans: 420, 425, 430, 422, 4.24v and 4.18v. Moreover, the manufacturer offered several highly specialized models.
