Mazda Bongo Friendee – overview
The Mazda Bongo Friendee is an improved version of the Bongo minivan, produced from 1995 to 2005. The 8-seater version was designed for transporting passengers, and the Auto Free Top version was used as a mobile home with a lifting roof, under which a two-person tent was located. The 6-seater Camper boasted a shower, refrigerator and even kitchen furniture. The "camping" modifications featured 5 or 6 seats. The minivan was equipped with a sliding side door. The Bongo Friendee could have rear and all-wheel drive systems, as well as two types of gearboxes. Interestingly, the engine was located under the front seats.
