The powerful AMG version of a large SUV, based on the second generation GL, appeared in 2012. The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class AMG received a hand-built engine from Mercedes-AMG. An 8 cylinder engine with 557 hp allowed the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds, while the maximum speed was 250 km/h. The engine was paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission with three control modes. The active air suspension was also improved and also had three modes. In addition, the new AMG GL-Class featured 5-spoke 21-inch alloy wheels with 295/40 tyres, perforated high-performance brakes, special ARTICO upholstery, AMG leather adjustable sport seats, branded floor mats and a large number of electronic assistants.
