Mercedes W128 - catalog and technical specifications
The luxurious Mercedes-Benz W128 was produced from 1958 to 1960 in sedan, coupe and convertible bodies. It was sold under the trade name 220SE. The letters in the name stood for "Einspritzmotor", which meant an injection engine. The car featured a unified body and body-on-frame design and a fully independent suspension. All models were equipped with a 2.2-liter inline 6-cylinder gasoline engine with an aluminum head, overhead camshaft and Bosch mechanical fuel injection. The engine produced 115 hp and worked in tandem with a 4-speed manual transmission mounted on a rack. At the time of its release, the W128 was the latest new model in the Pontoon model range, with design and style dating back to 1953 (Mercedes-Benz 180 with body designation W120).
