Mitsubishi Legnum – overview
The Mitsubishi Legnum is an estate version of the mid-size Mitsubishi Galant (8 generation). The model was introduced in 1996. Its name comes from the word "regnum", which is translated from Latin as "royal title". Compared to the Mitsubishi Galant, the car has a taller rooftop and a longer trunk, offering a comfortable and roomy interior, as well as excellent handling characteristics. In 1996-1997, the Mitsubishi Legnum won the "Car of the Year" award in Japan. In foreign markets, the car was sold as the Mitsubishi Galant estate. The estate has the same range of engines as the original sedan, including fuel-efficient 1.8-liter engines. The top-end all-wheel drive VR4 version was equipped with a 2.5-liter twin-turbocharged engine and an active rear differential. This beautiful and functional car was produced until 2002.
